My sister-in-law has just celebrated a very special birthday – her 60th. She is a wonderful person, and although she says she is now officially ‘old’, her passions and energies will keep her forever youthful. Julie is a keen gardener so I thought an autumn theme might be suitable for her card. Here in Adelaide the leaves are turning golden and there are beautiful hues of brown, orange and yellow everywhere. It is a very pretty time of the year.
As inspiration for the style I adapted Debby Hughes’s design shown here and used mostly Memory Box products to make the card. One of the Nightfall papers along with complementary Bazzill cardstock created the basic card. MB’s fresh foliage die, numbers die and stamp, a Sizzix framelits circle die, a Tim Holtz’s on-the-edge die and some coordinating ribbon completed the picture.
I had to move the circle piece to the other side of the front when I discovered that what I thought were birds flying in the background turned out to be bats! The paper was from a halloween theme and bats would not be right for this card. I stamped a couple of the music symbols from the MB stamp on the background so that the birds might appear to be singing – maybe a cheerful rendition of Happy Birthday. Congratulations, Julie. May there be many, many more celebrations.
Thanks for dropping by. Cheers, Jen
